User Guide

A plain-language walkthrough of Wedge Trade AI for traders using the product — distinct from every other document in docs/, which is written for engineers/operators. If you're looking for how something is *built*, see docs/ARCHITECTURE.md and its neighbors instead; this document is about how to *use* it.

1. Getting started

1. Sign up at /signup with your email and password. You'll get a verification email — click the link to activate your account. 2. First-time setup wizard: on your first login, a short guided walkthrough offers to connect your first broker account and create your first copy relationship. You can skip it and do either later from the dashboard — nothing about it is required to explore the app. 3. Two-factor authentication (recommended): under Settings → Security, enroll a TOTP authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.) by scanning the QR code shown. Once enrolled, every future login requires a code from that app in addition to your password.

2. Connecting a broker account

Dashboard → Trading Accounts → Add Broker. Supported platforms: MT5, TradeLocker, Tradovate, DXtrade, cTrader, Match-Trader (see docs/BROKER_INTEGRATION_REPORT.md for exactly what's confirmed working per platform, and each platform's own known limitations). Enter the credentials that platform asks for — the wizard's Test Connection step confirms it can actually log in and read your balance before you save it. Your credentials are encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before being stored; nothing about them is ever shown again in plaintext, including to platform support staff.

A connected account can be a master (a source of trades to copy from), a follower (an account that receives copied trades), or both, depending on which copy relationships you set up.

3. Setting up trade copying

Dashboard → Trade Copier → Create Copy Group. Pick a master account, a follower account, and how volume should scale between them:

  • Fixed Lot — every copied trade uses the same lot size, regardless

of the master's own size.

  • Multiplier — the follower's lot size is the master's size times a

factor you set (e.g. 0.5x, 2x).

  • Balance Ratio — scales automatically by the ratio of the two

accounts' balances, so a smaller follower account naturally takes proportionally smaller positions.

  • Equity Scaling — the same idea, using live equity instead of

balance.

Trade filters (optional, per copy relationship): restrict copying to Buy Only / Sell Only, cap the spread or slippage you're willing to copy through, choose whether pending (not-yet-filled) orders copy too, and — for MT5 masters specifically — filter by the source Expert Advisor's magic number or a comment substring (see docs/TRADE_FILTERS.md for exactly which platforms support which filter; a filter that can't be evaluated for a given platform blocks rather than silently letting everything through).

Reverse Copy flips buy↔sell — useful for hedging strategies, not a mistake-recovery feature.

One master can feed many followers, many masters can feed one follower, and any combination in between — there's no restriction on fan-out or fan-in.

4. Managing risk

Dashboard → Risk Manager (or inline per copy relationship): set a Risk Profile — reusable settings you can apply to multiple copy relationships at once — covering Maximum Daily Loss, Maximum Drawdown, Maximum Open Trades, Maximum Position Size, a Time/Session Filter (only copy during certain hours/days), and a News Filter (pause copying around scheduled high-impact news events). A relationship's own inline settings override the profile's if both are set.

Emergency Stop (Trade Copier → Active Sessions) immediately halts every copy relationship you own, across every account — the fastest way to stop all copying if something looks wrong, without having to individually pause each relationship.

5. Watching it work

  • Dashboard — real-time P/L, connected broker health, active copier

count, and recent activity in one view.

  • Trade Copier → Live Replication — a live feed of each copy event

as it happens (master trade → follower trade), not just a flat log.

  • Trade Copier → Copy Logs — the full audit trail of every copy

attempt, including ones that were skipped (and why — a blocked filter, a risk limit, a broker error) and the latency each one took.

  • Trade Copier → Statistics — aggregate performance across your copy

relationships.

  • Positions / Trades (top-level nav) — a cross-account view spanning

every connected broker, not just one account at a time.

6. Notifications

Dashboard → Workflow Engine → Alerts (/dashboard/workflows/alerts) → create an alert rule: pick which events you want to hear about, a minimum severity, and where to send it — in-app, Email, Slack, Discord, Telegram, or SMS (each channel needs its own destination — an email address, a webhook URL, a Telegram chat id, or a phone number, configured on the rule itself). Push notifications are not available yet (see docs/ALERT_SYSTEM.md if you're curious why). A separate Notifications inbox (top-level nav) shows every in-app notification you've received.

7. Billing & plans

Dashboard → Billing shows your current plan, usage against that plan's limits (broker connections, copy relationships, API keys, and — for team plans — seats), and lets you change or cancel your plan. Upgrading/downgrading and cancellation both go through Stripe's own secure billing portal — your card details are never handled by this app directly. A free trial is available on paid plans; you'll be notified before it ends.

8. Account security

Settings → Security:

  • Two-factor authentication — enroll/remove a TOTP authenticator.
  • Active sessions — see every device currently signed in and revoke

any you don't recognize.

  • API keys — create a personal access token (scoped read-only or

read-write) for programmatic access; see docs/API_DOCUMENTATION.md for what it can currently be used for. A key's full value is shown exactly once, at creation — store it somewhere safe, it can't be retrieved again (only revoked and replaced).

9. Getting help

  • /docs (in-app) — the same documentation set referenced throughout

this guide, rendered for browsing without leaving the app.

  • /status — live status of every platform component (database,

brokers, Copy Engine, market data), if something seems off.

  • /faq and /contact — general questions and support contact.

What this product does NOT do (read this before trusting it with real money)

  • It is not a broker. It connects to accounts you already hold at

real, regulated brokers — it never holds your funds.

  • Broker connectors are code-verified, not universally live-tested.

docs/BROKER_INTEGRATION_REPORT.md states plainly, per platform, exactly how much live-account confidence each connector has. Test any new broker connection on a demo account before connecting a live one.

  • Copy latency is not zero. Every copy involves reading the

master's trade, evaluating your filters/risk settings, and placing a real order on the follower — this takes real, if usually small, time. docs/STRESS_TEST_REPORT.md has real measured numbers for the processing step specifically (not end-to-end broker latency, which varies per platform).
